Laser Plus was started out in the small, quaint country town of Tusket, located on the Tusket River in Southern Nova Scotia in December of 1999. The minimally invasive Medical Aesthetic field was still in its infancy at the time and it was a leap of faith for Dr. van Aardt to commit considerable time, effort and energy in attending training courses, workshops, conferences and Preceptorships in this exciting and expanding field of medicine.
Dr. van Aardt fondly recalls the memory of starting out with his first laser in a small room in his medical clinic treating skin blemishes, spider veins and unwanted hair. The demand for his services grew steadily over the next few years and a new, expanded office was opened in Yarmouth in March of 2004, offering a full spectrum of cosmetic medical services. Dr. van Aardt was the first physician in the province to offer IPL treatment, Thermage treatment, mesotherapy and Photodynamic therapy.
Laser Plus saw rapid growth since then, opening offices in Truro in September 2004, combining forces with Dr. Anil Makkar, a renowned dentist in the Cosmetic Dentistry arena, and an office in Halifax in March 2005.
The new signature Laser Plus Medi-Spa, the first of its kind in Atlantic Canada, opened its doors in Truro in March of 2005 offering a full service spa, complete with sauna and steam room, massage therapy, body treatments and wraps, cellulite reduction treatments in combination with clinical aesthetic services and a comprehensive array of cosmetic medical procedures.
In October of 2006, Vitality Medi-Spa opened on Spring Garden Road and became our new Halifax location. This is Atlantic Canada’s first full service salon and medical spa, offering a full range of salon and spa services, massage therapy and comprehensive medical aesthetic services, becoming a prime destination in this field in Eastern Canada. Due to popular demand, services are also now provided in New Brunswick on a monthly basis in Campbellton at E&F Medi Spa.
Laser Plus proudly offers Preceptorships to physicians and comprehensive training programs for estheticians, nurses and physician assistants to increase their knowledge and broaden their skill in the medical aesthetic field.
